What Computer Should I Buy For Architecture?

It’s 2025. In the United States, you are likely a Revit user. If you’re asking me for advice, you are either running or working in a small firm or on your own, which means that you will sometimes want to reach for Enscape or Lumion for visualizations. If you never use those and just use Revit, you can change your graphics card to the NVIDIA RTX 4070, 5060 Ti, or 5070.

For Revit in 2025, you should use a desktop PC with:

Intel Ultra 7 265k

64GB RAM

NVIDIA 5070 Ti

Build Your Own?

Building a PC is easier than assembling a model in school. It takes approximately 8 hours to learn to order and assemble a PC from parts. I can send you a guide if you use the contact form below.

If deciphering the part names, ordering, and assembling the pieces sounds like torture, I suggest ordering a prebuilt system from a smaller vendor like Puget Systems or Boxx over a larger vendor like Lenovo or HP or Dell, as they provide a higher quality and longer lasting product. For laptops, Lenovo, Dell, and HP with on-site warranties lead the pack with Asus and Razer providing compelling options as well.

Interesting Laptops

If you’re looking for a portable solution instead, this list is a starting point. Contact me if you want to discuss a good fit for your work.
